Enjoy Life?
On my way walking back from the bus stop through the blocks, my eyes found the all-too-familiar figure loitering at the void deck. This lone figure is there everyday, at the same spot, with his endless packs of cigarettes, busy smoking life away.
Expect a stalker?
With black thick rimmed spectacles and grey-black patch of whatever is left on his head, this harmless figure is just an old man in his golden years. In his singlet and another shirt, with long work pants, what strike me was that he was smokine almost ALL the time i saw him as i passed by. Be it morning, afternoon or night; rain or shine he is always there with his packs, smoking and smoking. I recalled a few times by chance i was in the vincity and he got friendly enough to strike up a conversation with any stranger ( then it was me).
At the end of the conversation i felt a strange sadness towards him, and sensed his bit of desperate crave for company.
At his age, it is seriously a queer sight to see a greying old man walking in circles and smoking continuously, like he's desperate to get lung cancer from the excessive and intensive smoking!
I don't see how he is enjoying life from chain smoking cigarettes!
Where are his golden years?
