JJ Lin's latest killer MV, created uproars in many countries. Some even barred the distribution of the album, or otherwise censor the nude parts. Naturally, curiosity got the better of me and i watched the whole full version on youtube. The parts that probably got censored were just minor scenes where the girl bares abit of her body. But it should have been a blow to JJ's well-maintained good boy image with such gernerally-agreed-to-be psychotic mv.
I was pretty much disgusted initially with the main character played by JJ. He looked so mild, yet he such extreme split personality. Well in fact everyone has that too. It just depends on how free you wanna let your inner self, the wild one rule. People whom we consider 'normal' are normal because we can control our inner self, the shadow. People whom we consider psychopaths are ones who let their inner self rule, uncontrolled=insanity.
At the end of the mv, i felt sympathetic towards him instead. He loved the girl too much. Knowing that she will not coorporate to date him or dance with him, he had to do the cruel act of using chlorofoam on her to drug her unconscious as well as injusting a drug to make one incoherent, for his desires to be satisfied. But too late, he can no longer control his other self and sanity but to fall deeper and relinquish self control.
It's both scary and sad how people can breakdown due to stress or a hard blow in their lives. How double personalities can come about, the inner desires that overcome the sanity that contains it. I would applaud JJ for this bold mv. It certainly is a fresh idea but it will receive lots of comments in our conservative asian countries. However, whether he is really directing his real self, it would probably invoke much disapproval and some fear to his reputation.
