An attempt to break the trend to blog specifically on a thursday succeeded, but only to be a delayed post. I have removed Monday's incompleted post for this new one. In response to that incomplete post, i had to reason that i fell asleep halfway through on the computer table with an aching back until the wee hours, mayb 3hours before my wake up time. It was not exactly the best place to fall asleep on though.
Anyway, i'd perhaps one of the more significant/enjoyable time yesterday night. Especially the night. Having met up with Cheese for our dinner before attending this orientation with the red cross, we ate chicken caesar salad and the spicy chicken pasta with laughter. Yes, all through the dinner course. Frankly, the times when Cheese and i hung out were nearly all time fun and enjoyable. We both would end up laughing heartily over things that happened or what we'd done. Instead of walking to the bus stops for home, i pulled her to the (previously Daimaru) Liang Court. Well, i must admit it's been an extremely ancient since the last i stepped foot into that compound. Bitter sweet memories of the place gushed through as we strolled in. The glory of the pleasant Daimaru and crowd were gone, only to be replaced with half opened shops, or smaller chain shops. Pasar Malam styled business were strewn around the arena as well as some pushcart shops selling ornamental gifts or ladies accessories. The place was cold, the once nice warm feeling gone. Gone for good i guess. So gone were the Swensens with their spikey water 'fountain' at the side exit. Gone were the stages for various children shows. I remember the Barney sing along i went with my sister when we were very little, accompanied by a great big hug from the purple giant dinosaur( He was giant to the then little and short me). I remember the Sesame Street show where i had close contacts with Elmo and Big Bird. I remembered the brightly lighted spinning carousel that was located just outside the side exit of Liang Court. It was a marvelous sight and a truely enjoyable ride on them too. The streets amidst Clarke Quay and along Liang Court used to be crowded, with interesting mime shows/ stunts show/ magic shows/ etc . Some even contained games houses and some really good restaurants or ice cream shops! The bustling, and active Clarke Quay and Liang Court seemed to only live in my childhood. Toda's Clarke Quay feels more of an adolescent/adults' hangout for liquor, with a more matured perhaps romantic ambience.
In Liang Court, despite the cold reception, we decided to head down to Basement with an initial hunt for the toilet but ended up shopping in the japanese supermarket instead. Haha, Cheese, Meryl and i were commenting that we 3 were (super) market shoppers. Wonderful. Supermarkets are interesting. (i saw that make-believe look on ur faces) . It was getting late cheese suggested we head home. The nightbreeze was so refreshing and lovely on my cheeks I wanted to walk home. Cheese was won over by the breeze too, and so we walked home. Chatted quite a lot on the way, it all suddenly seemed so easy to chat and talk about anything. It felt like we have been together in the same class/CCA all these 6 years when in actual fact we have not. Our relaxing stroll led us to stand on the bridge at the Riverside, the colourful cheerful bridge where we laughed so much, so hard we received stares. But, who cares. *shrugs* it was a beautiful night out. A truely enjoyable night walk.
Just an hour ago i returned from lunch. Well, for the first time since i started work here, i went out for lunch at the Jurong Bowl centre place. Plus lunch was at an expensive Japanese restaurant with the bills footed by my Japanese Boss. haha. Rather cool, but the food was not bad. I had Beef Teriyaki rice set( i haven't eaten beef since i can't remember when). It was nice but if only we were not in a rush to get back that i can slowly eat the food and ejoy the meal ( hey we were not the only ones there, some grouchy aunties from other departments were there too and they were unfriendly, got my point? Plus i heard they are egoistic and are biased against young prettier girls at work or near them. But luckily my colleage the only other girl was not like them, phew) Yum, the taste still lingered in my mouth , the tenderness lasting while i sunk my teeth into those juicy pieces. muahahaha..
To meryl who is collecting her O levels results today, now, this instant: all thebest. I'm behind you! *Hugs*
